Well, I have to call it OT because I shot it with a Browning BPR 30-06 - not a lever gun. Due to sentimental reasons, I carried a BAR 30-06 of my late fathers the first three days of the season. I carried a BLR 30-06 the next three days of the season and started out the the third three days with the BPR. I will continue to rotate them on a regular basis.
North Florida buck. Probably about 120 lbs. and 2 1/2 years old.
Nice going. You are doing better tham me. Rifle closed today and no luck although I didn't go much due to family stuff. I have been looking around home with black powder and no luck either. It is like they have moved. There is some road work near by and they are dumping fill from the ditches in a low spot in a neighboring field and the constant banging of the dumptruck tailgates seems to have spooked them off. They stopped yesterday so maybe they will start coming back to feed in the corn fields. I still have another week for black powder, but work also has to be done.
Happiness is a comfortable stump on a sunny south facing mountain.
Nice deer congrats. It is awesome that you used a rifle that holds a special meaning for you.
I am heading to the Michigan North woods later today to start our 15 day Michigan gun season.
I am taking a Marlin 336 ss 30-30. And a Savage Model 110. In .300 Mag as a back up gun.
I am Mainly going to use the Grand Ol 30-30. Congrats on a nice deer.
Andrew: He is a real gun freak with way too many guns to shoot or clean.
I like rotating them but I am constantly concerned that I will forget which one I have and fail to operate it properly at the right moment. After I shot this buck, I temporarily forgot to pump in another round. Guess I thought I had the BAR. I may be having a good week as I got the opportunity to pass on an even better buck this morning. I then came home and finished processing this one. There will be another day for another chance. Fresh tenderloin tonight!
