Ain't any doubt about it, scopes hold many advantages over irons. Some don't even have a negative when it comes to failing light.
But, for the time being, I like irons. I feel it's more of a challenge; yes, OS, even if I'm shooting at bigger targets! I ain't sure it sentimentality, but a top eject Winchester is a pretty poor base for a scope. Ya gotta drill holes in the sides, defacing one of the rare ~4-½ million examples. For that, ya oughta have a few holes drilled in your side and see how YOU like it!

While I have one levergun wearing a scope, it ain't the only scoped arm in the safe; yet, while I can be pretty critical, even snide with a comment or two, it ain't even meant as an insult.
I do believe that Joe would make fun of hisself as soon as poke fun at someone else. And like Mr. Lombardi said, "a good defense can only be beat by a better offense." Or something like that. So, sometimes, like driving a car (or truck), being defensive puts you at a distinct disadvantage. You're always havin' to react to what the other fellar does. So... sometimes, it's in your best interests to go on the offensive, anticipate the actions of others, so they have less effect. I, of course, would never poke fun at myself... when others make such easy targets!!!
