Well as of right now I have most of the stuff I need to shoot my Cabela's .50 ML. The major factor is not having any patches for the roundballs I have.
I am not sure what size(thickness) to get. I don't have any lube or material, so I just plan on getting some prelubed patches from Midway and calling it good for now. But man, what size???
Why does doing stuff always lead to learning?

A .15-.18 patch should cover you just fine. Get some of both and and see what shoots best in your gun. Wonder lube is a good patch lube the TC patches come with their version called Natutralube.
Oops I meant .015-.018 sorry about that

I've found that no more than I shoot roundballs, buying TC's pre-lubed patches is the way to go. I think I'm using the .015" thick patches for the 50 cal. balls.
If you're bound and determined to make your own go to wally world and pick up some TC Bore Butter and a yard of pillow ticking. Cut your circles or whatever and dip them in the bore butter that you've melted in a double boiler, wipe off the excess and stack them somewhere. Store them in a ziplock bag.
My Thompson Center is very slow to load using the .15 prelubed T/C patch, Hornady's .490 ball, 90 grains of powder, RWS caps. First and only load have ever used in 16 years.

I can almost get it to turn 180° in it's 24" barrel, so, I guess it's a little slower than 1-48" but not much. I would like to try some conicals but, I will probably wait until I start casting to do that.
