Good day on the range

Post by JReed »

A few weeks ago I posted that I was doing the base rifle and pistol matches. Well today we shot the individual rifle and pistol portion. For the rifle I shot a 229 out of 250 posible points.

The way the range breakes down is 15 rounds slow fire in 20 minutes at the 200 yard line. 5 shots sitting 25 points, 5 kneeling 25 points, 5 shots standing 25 points. then 10 shots rapid fire in 60 seconds in the sitting 50 points. My score for the 200 was 22 sitting, 22 kneeling, 22 standing (at least I am consistant) and a 48 in the rapid.

Then you move to the 300 yard line were you fire 5 shots slow fire from the sitting in 5 minutes worth 5 points and 10 shots rapid fire prone in 60 seconds for 50 points. I shot 21 points in the slow fire and 46 points in the rapid fire.

Now on to the 500 yard line were you fire 10 rounds slow fire in 10 minutes at a man size target for 50 points. I shot a 48, 8 out of 10 shots in the black for 8 fives and 2 fours.

Not to bad tomorrow we start the team compition so I need to shoot as well or better then I did today.

Thanks all it was darn good shooting for me. These past 2 1/2 weeks being involved in these matches have taught me alot. Now I can tell you exactly what I did wrong when I blow a shot. :D

Here are the targets

200-300 slow fire

200-300 rapid fire

Now this isnt the exact same but close enough. This is 500 yard slow fire.

On our target there is a 4 and a 3 ring out side of the black.

Hmmm, Jeremy gets paid to spend a day at the range, and I spend about 13.5 hours almost without a break in meetings.

Jeremy, hats off to you - good shooting and glad you enjoyed the day!!! :D

Well we had team matches today. Wish I could say I shot the same or better then yesterday but it was not to be  . Shot a 219 rifle and an embarasing 290  . Oh well one more day of shooting and we are done thank goodness. You know you have spent to much time on the range when you are tired of shooting  .
