OT: Prayers for Mom's pup
Just got back from the vet's, seems I'm getting to be frequent flyer there. About 3 weeks ago Mom got a new 6 month old German Shepard pup from one of the rescue places, named her Sassy and she sure lives up to the name, reminds me a lot of the pup I lost to parvo in June. Mom lost her old dog about a year ago and we weren't sure she'd ever get another.
Well, Sassy got hit by a car this afternoon coming back to the yard from playing with the neighbor. Mom was at work and called me when the neighbor called. I had to drive from town but was there within 20 minutes of her getting hit. She was pretty alert, came out of her house to me when I got there and crawled into my lap. Badly broken front leg and at least a bloody nose, hopefully nothing more there. Vet said lung and gut sounds were all right and he's keeping her overnight before working on the leg, don't know if surgery will be required yet or not.
She's a sweet pup and....well you guys know the rest of it....
Thanks,
Rob

Done! All dogs are great, but I especially love GSD's. I hope she is back to 100% soon and stays out of the street!!
Good luck,
John

Good news!!! Sassy's home with Mom tonight. Got a club splint on the one foreleg and a bit tongue. Mom commented that the splint "wasn't letting her get around too well", I laughed at her and said that just getting hit by the car might have had something to do with that.
Thanks for the thoughts and prayers,
Rob

Re: OT: Prayers for Mom's pup
Great!
My last dog was hit by a car when he was a pup and healed perfectly. For the rest of his 15 years he looked both ways and hurried across the road. It was obvious, he'd stand at the edge, looook one way, looook the other, glance back at the first way and either trot across or wait 'til the car passed and repeat the process. I pray your mom's pup is equally bright. Maybe you can work with the pup a little on road crossing etiquette.

I'm happy for you and the pup.....Dogs are pretty smart. Thor touched his nose to the glass window on the gas log stove, and he eyes it pretty close and clearly avoids it now....
