Glenfield Model 30 GT
I've decided to refinsih my 30 year old 30-30 and while trying to break it down I'm having trouble gettign the forestock off. I've taken out the two screws on the front band and slid it up and out of the way but there seems to be something else holding it. I've viewed the exploded view of this model online but can't see any other fasteners. Ideas??
Some forends are inletted for the barrel and drilled for the mag tubw, leaving a wooden web between barrel and mag tube, that doesn't quite meet in the middle, but interferes with pulling the forend off downward.
Pull the mag tube out forard, and it'll come right off. (don't forget that the rear of the forend has a reduced tenon that fits inside the recever)

Thanks for the replies. I was hoping there was another method b/c the screw fastening the end clip (holding the mag tube and the barrel together) doesn't want to budge....time for some screw loose i guess. New to the forum....joined b/c of this issue. But I thank you for the replies!!! Good info about the drilled mag tube hole for the forend. I'll be sure and let you know how it turns out. Can you post pics on this forum?? If so I'll try and post before and afters of the refinish if you guys are interested. Thanks again.

It may be a while as this will be a "free time" (whatever that is) project but I assure you that I will post when completed. I've also found a set of "flip-over" scope mounts so that the iron sights can also be utilized for close range. I'm optimistic of the outcome hang tight and I hope not to dissapoint.
