Just purchased a Colt New Frontier 22/22mag. L series SA.
The new addition to my Colt collection hasn't arrived just yet.
Was wondering if you guys that own one could give me
some pointers as to what to expect.
I plane to use this revolver primarily with the .22 mag. cylinder
for small game. (tree rats, rabbit, fall turkey)
Do you feel an action job be in order for a Colt New Frontier.

I don't know what the "L" stands for unless it's the .22 sized frame, but the two of them I had in the 70s when they were being made were beyond excellent. Right out of the box smooth and accurate. If the one you are getting has not been messed with it shouldn't need anything.
Always clean and lube a new to you pistol and shoot it first. That way you know what it needs.
Talking about an action job before you even have it is like getting the cart before the horse.

IIRC the New Frontier had adjustable sights, while the Peacemaker had fixed. That being said, I have the Peacemaker model 22LR and can't say enough good about it. It is very accurate when you have found the right ammo (mine likes CCI Stingers). The action is very nice, the only point I didn't like was that the trigger was too thin for good control, so I put a trigger shoe on mine from Brownells years ago. I much prefer my Colt over the Ruger Single Sixes, and FWIW I LOVE Ruger Single Sixes.
iam at work so cant check, i have a .22 peacemaker colt that is an L-series .they were made I think in only 1974 , before and after that date the seriel number pre-fix was a G

I think I read that the G series that were made for a short while in the
eighties, had some kind of cross bolt safety or something.
From what I understand the L series is the one to get.
True or false I don't know for sure.
