Marlin 1894 sight adventures, lotsa pics

Post by J Miller »

Last year I bought myself a Marlin 1894 Cowboy Limited in .45 Colt. It was the first new, I mean really new rifle, I had purchased in many years. About 10 actually.

This Marlin has the shorter 20â€

Troy has done me right on 2 occasions. The tang sight for an original Marlin 1894 has a stem that is too high for the silver blade front sight. Troy looked the sight up in his book and it was one that could not be serviced by the end user. Apparently the barrel nut had to be changed out also, so it was done at no charge both times.

Joe,
Nice rifle, I have never seen one with the case-color.

Was that a Davidson Exclusive?

Did they make them in 44mag.?

Thanks guys. It's rapidly becoming my favorite hand gun caliber lever gun.

But .......... shussssssshh, don't say it too loud my Winchesters might hear you and get jealous and mean. And they outnumber the Marlin.

With ability like that, I think the Marlin will hold it's own against those mean old Winchesters...;)

Joe,

Congratulations, that is nice !!! The case coloring on the receiver actually looks very nicely done. Not too subtle and not over the top.

That's the one I really wanted.

meanc,

I wasn't looking for this one. I was just looking around the closest gun shop and chatting to the counter guy, when I looked over his shoulder and there it was. I said let me have a lookie see and he did. After about 5 minutes of fondling and examining I said, lets do the paperwork.
That Marlin was literally whimpering for me to adopt it. How could I resist such a pretty 'lil thing?

This is the first time in many years I was at the right place, at the right time, AND had money in my pocket. That don't happen often.
