I kind of wish when stuff like this happens, the negligent party wouldn't post it online. It only makes the anti-gunners feel vindicated.
I'm about to go on a bit of a rant here:
What is with people using the internet to show the world their acts of negligence or borderline criminality?
When I screw up royally (or when I was younger and drinking underage) I did and still do my best to hide it from anyone who could either give me stuff about it, or give me a fine for it. I have Myspace and other such sites particularly in mind. When you screw up, think "I really hope no one saw that" rather than "I can't wait to present photographic evidence to the world."
Rant off

Yet, sometimes, folks can LEARN from the mistakes of others. While I've had an AD a time or two, (I believe that anyone that shoots or carrys will... sooner or later), they've all been at the range, and sometimes I might have been the only one to recognize that "early" shot was, in fact, an AD.Jason_W wrote:I kind of wish when stuff like this happens, the negligent party wouldn't post it online...
I've only had one "close call" when away from the range. After doing my monthly quals one day, I took, my UC gun (Colt Combat Commander) back home in the case, wearin' my duty gun under my shirt. At home, before cleaning, I racked the slide and out popped a live round! Since that is my normal habit after removing the magazine to rack the slide, no AD happened. However, if it had been my habit to immediately begin the disassembly process, I don't know if pushing the slide back to remove the bushing would cause a discharge, but...
Just my 2¢.

Well,....on the bright side, it looks like he'll get good penetration if he ever has to shoot a goblin..

Hey, when I see things like this it only serves to remind me of the basic rules of gun safety and to always treat a gun as if it was loaded.
Proper handling of firearms can and does prevent these injuries.
It's good for other people to know what happens with graphic/candid storyteling and imagery.
The point in sharing this was to educate others.

Remember Rule #1!!! But if you handle weapons often Remember Rule #2 at all costs!!! Never let the Muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy. Whether cought up in "the moment" or whatever I have had 1 and seen too many ADs by people trained to use weapons. Neglegent doesnt begin to describe. Let us all learn a lesson in this
