Found one of these today - it has been refinished in the wood a bit but the checkering was left alone. Pistol grip, flip-down site, 3/4-mag tube, factory made in 375Win caliber.
I didn't think they had made these, although I have seen the 356 ER guns in the past.
How rarely are they encountered ITRW?

Congrats on your find. I was not aware these rifles left the factory with checkered wood. One can buy replacement wood from Marlin that is checkered however. Marlin made about 16,500 of the .375 model. Good luck. 1886.
Mine doesn't have checkering. You could have a factory checkering aftermarket or a do it yourself. My gun books don't list checkering. There are some talented kitchen table gunsmiths out there. Do you have any pics?
The .375 is one of the great unsung levergun cartridges, IMO. Never really caught on in it's day, the 1980s. That said, once shooters caught on to this latter-day 38-55 of sorts, it became difficult to find Marlin 375s and Winchester BB 375s. I have one of both makes, and love them.
Enjoy!

Might as well face it, you're addicted to guns . . .
