OT Lil Huntress' academic achievements!

Post by huntress »

Well I have shared all of Lindsay's hunting achievements and I am very proud of them. But....I don't think I have ever been prouder of her than I am right now! So as the proud Mama I NEED to brag on her!

First Lindsay received an award in school last week for being on the A honor roll. She get s it every year but that doesn't change how excited I get when I hear how well she did!

Then back in the fall we were contacted by Duke University in NC. They have a program called the Duke TIP, where they search out gifted kids. They identify them based on their state tests, which here in TX is the TAKS test. You have to have a certain score in one area to be identified. Well every year that Lindsay has taken the TAKS she has received perfect scores in every category. So they identified her as a "gifted" kid and gave her the opportunity to take the SAT this year! She is 13 years old and in 7th grade! Wow! So back in Janurary she took the SAT with all of the local HS kids in the area. Recently we received her scores and were told that she scored higher than 75% all college bound HS seniors for the year 2009 in reading and writing and higher than 45% of the same seniors in math! Two days ago I received a letter from Duke again. This time to tell me that close to 15,000 kids were identified in TX and took either the SAT or the ACT. Out of that group around 5000 of them scored exceptionally high. So now the state of TX wants to honor Lindsay with an award to be given at TX A&M Unversity in May!

Yesterday afternoon the mail came again and this time there was a letter from her school. They have nominated her for the National Junior Honor Society! She has to fill out an application and we will know if she was accepted in 2 weeks.

I know I am biasd, but wow I have an awesome daughter! I am so proud I am ready to burst!!!! So I wanted to share her achievements with you all. Some of you have made a point of telling her to study and keep her grades up so I thought you might want to hear how well she is doing.
For me, the sad part is that girl NEVER sutdies or stresses about a test! It all just comes to her that easily! I wish I had that talent. LOL

You have reason to be proud.

Lindsay,

Thanks for all the hard work you do. You may not see it now, but you are the woman we need to lead us out of the predicament we have found ourselves. The process of rebuilding our Republic will be full steam when you are in your 20s and with your abilities and the knowledge you gain between now and then you will be the perfect woman to show the masses the correct way forward.
Kind regards,
Tycer

Having been maarried to a college instructor for nearly 20 years, let me say that Lil Huntress impresses me as being both more mature and more intelligent than most of the college kids I've encountered.

You are both to be congratulated. IMO the parents of exceptional kids deserve about as much credit for their kids accomplishments as the kids themselves.

Lil Huntress is to be most highly commended for her accomplishments, and Mama is to be commended for raising and encouraging such a bright kid!

Most excellently well dont, for both of you!!

Sandy, you have a right to be proud ... and to brag! Good job fostering her focus on academics throughout the years. It's not easy being a parent, but every now and again, some manage to do it right!

Congratulations all around. The Duke program for recognition of academic excellence is well known and an honor for youngsters. My son Colin (whom you met at the February hog hunt) was also recognized by Duke when in High school. The campus visit was memorable (he was on crutches due to an ankle injury) and though he did not choose to attend Duke(he was paid to attend another elite school), it still looked good as a reference.

So, Linsday has it all - brains and beauty - way to go Huntress.

Absolutely AWESOME.

I see so many teenage kids for their 'checkups' and (since there usually aren't many pressing 'medical' issues to deal with) engage them in conversation to get a feel for their life goals (i.e. 'risk behaviors', but also just to get a feel where their priorities are). MOST of them have NO idea what they want to do once they finish school, or say they want to be a 'rock musician' or some unrealistic nonsense. Most of them will wind up dealing drugs as a secondary income, if not primary, and the highlight of their career will be learning to say "Do you want fries with that?". Of course those of us who work and achieve will pay for all the 'programs' they sign up for.

Every time I get depressed about this, along comes someone like "Lil Huntress" and I see there actually IS hope for the world. 8)

If she keeps it up, she WILL be a 'leader' and WILL be an 'achiever', and most importantly, WILL have a fullfilling life doing some sort of GOOD for society.

...of course, being a 'levergunner', it was OBVIOUS from the get-go...

Huntress,

You should feel confident that Lil' Hutress will probably stay well ahead of her peers all the way through high school graduation. Such things bring more scholarships for college. Tell her that her online family is down right proud of her!

Great job, Lindsay! Congratulations.

Mom, save this feeling in a jar, because in a couple of years you might wonder "what happened?"

I'm pretty sure that this one is gonna be fine.
