It was the smallest ship I ever served on, but definitely my favorite. We had a good, tight crew.

She was named after 1st. LT Reasoner USMC....I believe he was the first Marine to be awarded the Medal of Honor in Vietnam. I served aboard a Forest Sherman Class Tin Can...USS Bigelow...the last class of all gun destroyers. We had 4 boilers, 2 steam turbines and twin screws....hated being with a Frigate cause they were slow in rough seas and we would have to slow down so they could keep up....good to have more anchor clankers around....

Yup, Frank S. Reasoner. Awarded the M.O.H. posthumously. Killed while saving a wounded Marine.
A lesser, and more embarrassing fact was that the Reasoner was the ship where the music video 'In the Navy' by the Village People was filmed.

Here's something I've always wondered..does the FF mean Fast Frigate? Or does it just signify Frigate like DD denotes a Destroyer?

Glad to see another sailor. Did a short tour on the Stump back in the early 90's. Small ships are the way to go in the fleet. Surely do miss those days.
