.35 Remington success

Post by DerekR »

I got this rifle, my first centerfire, in 1976 at age 14. It has scored more deer than any other rifle I own. Ammo isn't available at Walmart for $9 anymore, but I have dies and tons of brass. Both of my sons killed their first deer with this same rifle. Light recoil and a blood trail that is impossible to miss. I have other rifles I love, but I could deer hunt with only this one for the rest of my days and not feel disadvantaged. The pill was some factory 200 grain Remingtons.

Great deer! It's really difficult to not like the old 35 Remington. What a great caliber and rifle.

YES!!

I have a similar 35 Rem....the first rifle I purchased (about) 1972.....right at $100 if memory serves me. If I were to pare down to just one rifle, it would be the one I'd keep.

Congratulations on the buck!!! :D

Nice deer. This is one caliber I have yet to load commercially because it works so well as is. I am experimenting with different bullets and weights but I doubt I'll improve performance for what it is used for now. At best we'll offer an option for using this caliber on something a little stouter.

It would be a serious candidate for the 'only rifle round you really need' in the U.S. - hope to use mine on a big buck someday....

Great shooting!!!! I tagged a buck with my 35 rem about 2 years ago, and then sold the rifle to my buddy 'cause his son liked it and wanted it. Wish I had it back!!!!!!!!!!

Good job!

Mike, it would be pretty cool to see a factory loaded 240-250 grain load. Maybe around 1900 fps. I would buy it immediately.

DerekR, stop living the lie! Anybody that hangs on every word a gun writer says is gospel  , knows the .35 Remington is just as inadequate as that lousy .30-30! There no way you could a taken that deer without having your hunting partner with the .577 Tyrannsaur shot it for you. :o  :P :P

Great buck, I'd be lucky to get a 2 pointer.

P.S. Don't show this to a gun rag they'll try to deny it ever happened  or it's a twenty year old pre-inceptor wearing wildlife days!!!
