Prayer Request--Update in original post
My 12-year-old son is in the E.R. as I type this. He was walking home from the bus stop, two blocks from our house, when a high-school kid came running down the street, holding a skateboard over his head and screaming like a maniac. The kid starting beating my son, broke his right arm and possibly some ribs, and pretty much beat him black-and-blue from head to toe.
The chief of police came to my home and said they are looking for the kid, he's a local 'troubled youth' and is already on probation for attacking people before.
Tim was brave, he teared up a little as my wife took him to the ER but he's really being tough, a lot tougher then I would be under the circumstances.
I'm praying the police find this kid before anyone else does...
Update: On the afternoon of November 20th, Milton PD took the young man into custody. He had already violated probation by running away before he attacked my son, so he was remanded to a juvenile detention facility.
My son is doing much better and the girls at school are already fawning over him.
Thanks to all for your prayers and well-wishes.

Re: Prayer Request
Prayers for you son and your family. Seems to me someone needs to put this kid away where he can't hurt anyone anymore. Or until whatever is broke is fixed (not holding my breath).

Re: Prayer Request
First, prayers up. Second, I'm glad your son is relatively okay. This could have been a lot worse. Lastly, though I am not a fan of lawsuits, I'd threaten to sue the living you-know-what out of the parents of that boy if they don't institutionalize him. Make them an offer they can't refuse. The next child he attacks may not be so lucky...

Re: Prayer Request
sort-of-update...
Still waiting at the ER.
The kid's family is dirt-poor. Chief says they've had tons of problems with the family. The kid is known to be a bully, randomly beating kids up. His younger brother is a sweet kid my own son's age, my wife had fed the kid before once or twice. This older brother wasn't known to myself or the wife, but my son said he's ever had problems with him ever, when the kid came running at him he was surprised as anyone.
I'm tryin hard not to go into angry revenge mode...my first urge was to go drive around our little town lookin for the kid, but I cooled off and am letting the police handle it.

Re: Prayer Request
The lawsuit wouldn't be about money per se, rather, forcing the issue. Any high schooler that attacks a 12 year old out of the blue, for no reason (actually for any reason), is going to blow a fuse someday and kill someone. Hopefully the legal system will put him away, but being a minor, he'll probably get a slap on the wrist. What happens when he attacks a kindergartener next time?
First things first though, good you are at the hospital versus looking for the kid. Please keep us posted on your son's progress. He sounds like a real trooper!

Tell your son there is a man in Maine he doesn't know who is praying for him.
Re: Prayer Request
More than one in Maine. It's tough when the little one is hurting and you feel helpless but prayer is the best thing. Our prayers go out to you and yours.

Re: Prayer Request
Evening, all, and we want to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for the outpouring of well-wishes.
Tim is home and resting. He sustained a radically dislocated ulna and a greenstick fracture just behind his wrist. The ribs, thank god, weren't broken, only severly bruised. He took about twenty-five to thirty solid hits from this kid, who was swinging a skateboard like a bludgeon. The arm hits were the worse, since the kid was swinging the board in a way that Tim was getting struck with the cast metal axle assembly.
Chief of police came by again today. He's spent the entire day driving around Milton looking for this kid, who has been officially a runaway since the end of last week. The charge, he tells me, once they catch him, is going to be 'malicious wounding'. Magistrate may upgrade once they find the kid, talk to witnesses, etc. Chief tells me the kid has two prior felony arrests (!) so once they get him he is definately gonna be taken off the streets and put somewhere.
I spent the day letting him rest and talking to the various friends and relatives who called for updates.
Thanks again to all and I'll update as news becomes available.

Thank you for the update. I've been thinking about your son and your family all weekend, praying several times. Good to know your son is home resting.CaptainFinn wrote:Evening, all, and we want to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for the outpouring of well-wishes.
