special run of mod 92's

I have been through 35 pages so far and haven't found the responce I have been looking for,so I ask this now just in case (nate kiowa jones)or others in the know have the answer.

I have just traded for a rossi ss src in 45colt,it has under the reciever RR 93x of 2000 ,and has no safety and great fit to finnish and great Brazlion hardwood.

They wanted 499.00 for the rifle while not crazy about the front site being on the barrel band ,it seams to be a well made rig.

It still has the yellow follower and when you cock the hammer you can feel as well as hear a spring movement!

Is this a good rifle and from about what year?

2 months back I bought a Rossi 45 Long Colt with the old interarms stamp on it. It was unshot in the box. It shoots well (favors a 265 grain Lee flat nose) & is slowly wearing into the typical 92 smooth action. Mine is Blue but has descent wood and fit.
Should you buy it a simple good load is most any SOFT (1/2 WW - 1/2 lead) chamber sized bullet with 9 + grains of Unique. I would hunt any critter around Illinois with it.
Get up to 18+ grains 2400 with a pure WW bullet and you are getting into some serious POWER.

Interarms brought in a run of stainless Rossi 92's in 45 Colt that were marked like yours is XXX of 2000, These were the first stainless 92s.

Hi Bob,
Your gun is from the first run of stainless 92's that rossi made about mid 90's and imported by InterArms. I think they listed them as limited just in case they didn't catch on. But, as you probably noticed the Stainless Rossi's are quite popular.

As for the front sight on the barrel band, I kinda prefer it over the current round barrel guns with the shallow dovetails. Some folks have had the front sights get loose in the dovetail. Not much metal there.

The original round barrel 92's had a slotted block with a pinned blade soldered to the barrel just behind the front band. Much more durable. But like the barrel band sight combo it doesn't allow for many options.

So, what I'm doing for the old barrel band sight is this scuptured post and brass bead setup.

The mounting of the front sight on the band is probably less expensive and saves a bit of barrel work too.
