I would like to hear someone, sometime, sing the whole thing. Particularly touching to me, is the last verse, which reads:

O! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: 'In God is our trust.'
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave![

Some people might think that being able to spend billions of dollars on unproductive leisure time activity like professional sporting events is an ultimate statement of American freedom, however, when I see multi-millionaire professional athletes scratching their balls, spitting, talking on their cell phones, or gazing around looking for the Big Dipper while standing next to a group of veterans with their hands and their hats covering their hearts as a magnificent ensemble plays our cherished and noble national anthem, I cry.

A tremendous peformance for the commercial benefit of a despicable lot.

I enjoyed the performance in the second link very much, but I wonder whether those cute little girls understand what, exactly, they are singing so well.

:)
Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.
