ML Knives (pics)

Post by CraigC »

I don't remember how I found ML Knives but I was on the lookout for a frontier-style knife for field use. Might have been an article or magazine ad but once I browsed the website the fever set in. I ended up ordering an early bowie from the site shortly thereafter. Upon receipt I found it to be a very well made knife. Excellent workmanship and sharper than a razor. Nice and heavy, built from quarter inch stock. After processing a buck with it I was thoroughly impressed and decided to have Matt make me a skinning knife. It was to have a ¼" thick drop point blade four to five inches long, a steel single guard, a crown antler handle and copper pins. Matt delivered a wonderful little knife exactly as I wanted. I had also been wanting a similarly built eating utensil set for use on campouts. Everything I had found was rather delicate and wouldn't stand up to heavy use. So I sent Matt a message to see if he could make a set. He agreed and after swapping some sketches the designs were settled-on and the wait began. Six months later I got the message that the goodies were finished and shipped my way. He perfectly executed the utensils as well as the antler tip toggle-equipped flap pouch design I sketched for him. Each utensil has its own pouch, only the knife has a belt loop. Can't wait for this fall to spend some time in the hills, putting this stuff to work. Thought you guys might enjoy it.

Very nice set. I particularly like the rustic look.

Thanks for the kind words gents. Thought you guys might like those. Would've responded sooner but my satellite internet modem died yesterday.

I'm right handed but so far I think the curvature of the antlers will be okay. Find out soon enough.
