Sight hood question for a post-64 Win. 94

Post by Rocket6R »

Hello again! First, let me go ahead and thank everyone for answering my questions regarding my Win. 94. You guys are a great bunch with a lot of knowledge.

I need a front sight hood for my Win. 94, circa 1965. Are there any differences in the manufacturing of these sight hoods though out the years? Meaning, will any Win. sight hood fit any Win. 94, or is there a specific sight hood I should be after?

Thanks again, Rocket6R

The onlyest time I've ever even glanced at a sight hood was when I was trying for a swish, when tossing one in my scrounge box.

Is there anyone that may know about this?

I think most any repro Winchester sight hoods work. Of course you might find an original at a gun show. I believe they are the same as the M. 71 hood. One of the reasons for the sight hood was to protect the front sight in a saddle scabbard. Most are removed because the hood does restrict your field of view around the target somewhat. I have never felt that a hood was necessary except in a scabbard carry gun. I think most people feel the same way.
