Marlin 3081 Ltd Edition, 30-30 Alamo Commemorative -pictures

Post by azoil »

Last summer I traded for a pre-safety end cap stocked "336". I posted about this rifle back in August last year:

Anyway, the sights did not line up vertically with the receiver, They weren't bad but bad enough to bother me. So I decided I would send it to Marlin and have them corrected. I figured while it was there I would pay to have it reblued and a new LeverEvolution Mag follower installed.

Here are the pictures of the rifle that I received:

OK as is I thought, until I discovered the leaning sights. So, I stripped off the wood and packed it up with a letter of what I wanted done.

Well, here is what I got back from Marlin about 90 Days later, including the sling and swivels:

Another fine job by the craftsmen at Marlin!

I like the Walnut Stocks much better than the hardwood stocks that were on it. I have been considering a 30-30 A.I. for some time and I am thinking this might be a good one to convert.

So what do you guys think?

That looks great! Did you sell the old wood?

I really like it azoil! I think they did a good job. I hope that Marlin continues to offer this fine level of service after they've been absorbed by Remington.
With a .45cal entrance wound I don't worry too much about bullet expansion.
