I was at the range the other day when one of the club members showed me this cartridge and asked me if I knew what it was. I told him I didn't have a clue but that I would ask my friends on the Internet about it. It is a copper cased round and is rimfire in ignition. I figure it was probably an old black powder round from the 1800's. The only marking on the case is an "H" stamped on the case head. No other identifying marks are available. I appologize for the poor photography but the only camera available was in my cel phone.

I had a few of those in my cartridge collection for years and never found anyone who could tell me what they were. Then one day I was talking to a friend who's been collecting cartridges since he was a kid (over 50 years!) and without seeing it he told me what it was and what guns used it. Amazing how much info some folks keep in their heads!
Aside from his own immense intellect, Yance studied under some great folks at the old TC-List. Norm Johnson and others were over there. Great folks. Many are now at Specialty Pistols.

It's pretty arrogant for anyone to think that he knows everything. There is always someone who knows more, is better at it, etc. One should never shy away from asking for help. Most people are usually very free about offering to lend a hand. I'm appreciative of all the folks who visit and post on this site.
