Look What the Levergun Fairy Brought ME! LOTS of Pictures!

Post by Hagler »

Gentlemen,

You may recall that, mid-November, Tycer helped hook up Oregon 45 & myself, so that I could buy Oregon's EMF 92. Well I wanted a .357 Magnum '92, but this one had a 20" barrel. I wanted a 16"-barreled one. You may also recall that Dead Calm sold an Interarms Puma, with a 16" barrel, in .357 Magnum, to Tycer. Because of our schedules & locations, I got Tycer's Puma, and Tycer got my EMF, with the proviso that Yancey would bob my barrel. Tycer sent me Steve Young's DVD, and I worked over his Puma. Tycer was in town yesterday, but the health of his mother dictated that our visit was much shorter than I hoped it would be. Not only did I get to meet Tycer's wife, Nancy, but he brought me my shortened EMF:

Oregon 45 had previously stripped the finish from the wood:

...plus a load of extras:

Yancey did an excellent job on my gun:

He chucked-up the barrel in a lathe, and even hand-turned the crown! Tycer put in some elbow grease, too, grinding out the front barrel band, and elongating the magazine plugscrew recess in the bottom of the barrel. Tycer said this would be a harmonious solution for barrel expansion during shooting. The dovetail cut for the front sight is very nice, too.

I am uncertain who to thank for all of this great present. I understand that Yancey donated the RCBS press. Tycer said someone from another forum gave me some bullets. If anyone, here, gave me any of the items pictured above, then please let me know. I want to thank all involved in helping nudge me into reloading. All I wanted was a short rifle. What I got was far more than I ever expected. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

It was a pleasure visiting with Tycer & Nancy. Carla & I enjoyed our time together, and very much appreciate the fellowship over the fine meal we were treated to.

Tycer, let me know how your Puma shoots!

Humbly yours,
Shawn

WOW! That's a nice piece of "pau louro" (blond wood) you've got on that EMF. It's one of my favorite Brazilian hardwoods. It can be made to look almost like walnut with a judicious application of stain. I like it in the more natural state. A friend of mine made us a bed out of four old pau louro fence posts and some planks I bought at the mill years ago. Sure wish we could have brought that bed with us when we left the country.

We are looking forward to a range report now. :-)

You are set my friend! That is nice all around.
