On April 20th I shipped a Browning B92 357 mag. to TNTBigBore via UPS insured. It was put in a gun case and enclosed in a heavy firearms shipping box I got from a local dealer. Newspapers were packed tight around the case, between it and the box sides.
When the rifle arrived Neal notified me the buttstock had been broken in 2 or 3 pieces. UPS came to inspect it and I was notified today that they have denied my claim, because it was not packed properly. I asked how it should have been packed, since the sheer force needed to break the stock would have broken any packing material, shy of a steel case around it. She had no answer. It was mailed at a UPS shipping/receiving center, not a outlet store, and the receiving clerk had no problem with the way it was packed or sealed.
I am trying to contact someone to contest this to, but so far no one has returned any of my calls.
So, I just want to warn anyone using UPS that they can use "IMPROPER PACKING" to deny a claim.
Here is what it looked like before UPS worked it over.
