The NEW Rossi Leverguns

Post by Hagler »

Gents,

The Taurus USA Web site now has a link to the Rossi USA site. Rossi USA is finally selling leverguns. The "contents" page, and most of the other pages, have clickable links on them:

http://www.rossiusa.com/2009catalog/?catalog_page=2

Octagon-barreled models:

http://www.rossiusa.com/2009catalog/?catalog_page=5

Round-barreled carbine models, including .454 Casull, with 20", or 16" barrel:

http://www.rossiusa.com/2009catalog/?catalog_page=6

Here is the leverguns spec. page:

http://www.rossiusa.com/2009catalog/?catalog_page=23

It looks like the bolt-mounted safety is still there, and the "Taurus Security System" is also included! :!:

Are these the new Italian made ones?

I noticed they still have the bottom of the receiver shaped wrong, makes it look too much like a Mdl 94. That bolt widget and maybe the other one as well, leaves me cold. I guess I'll just have to pretend I don't want one for a while longer.

I ordered a 16" Rossi 92, 357 from Bud's that should be delivered tomorrow. I'll post a report after I get it.

Glad that Rossi is still making the 454 Casull rifles but given my experiences with mine after having Mic McPherson "accurize" it really paints a grim picture of the sort of tolerances that Rossi er, uh, tolerates.

I received the Rossi 92, .357, 16" today. The stock is the typical South American mystery hardwood in a walnut type stain and fits pretty good. The forend is a little proud on one side where it mates to the receiver, although on further examination it appears the receiver is machined with a little sharper radius on that side causing the proud wood. The blueing is very dark and glossy. The hammer is a little gritty right now, but it should smooth out with use like my last Rossi did. The tang is marked "Braztech Int. LLC, Miami, Fl-USA". The barrel is marked "Rossi Model 92". Underneath the lever, "MADE IN BRAZIL-BY TAURUS". Price from Bud's (shipped) was $492. Seventy dollars more than the shipped price for the 20" Puma 92 stainless in .44 Rem. Mag. I bought two years ago from Bud's.

Range time tomorrow! We'll see how she shoots.

And I reported the Sexy Underwear spam post above. I had nothing to do with it, I promise!
