Rainy Day??

Post by HEAD0001 »

I was thinking about keeping a little cash in hand for a possible rainy day($5,000-$6,000). I normally keep around $1,000 on hand. I am a bit worried about keeping the cash safe. I am not much on Mason jars. I do have a safe, and it is a good safe, but I do not know if it would be completely fire proof for cash. I am looking for a small type of lock box to keep the cash in. I can then put that cash in my safe. I am sure some of you guys have done this. What types of boxes are you using?? Tom.

During the rare times that I do have a little cash to stash, it just goes in an envelope in the gun safe. There is probably a better way though.

My brother has a neat little one, supposedly fire proof, it's set in concrete.

You can get one of the small Sentry fireproof lock boxes for under a hundred bucks, Put your cash, deeds, titles, ins. policies etc. in that. Place that inside the large safe and it effectively at least doubles your fire protection.

That Sentry Fireproof Safe is a good idea and to further fireproof your cash, you can compress it between two fireproof materials -- say, a couple of bricks or pieces of sheet metal.
