guns/parts and much more

Post by pokey »

i have seen threads here from folks wondering where they might find parts for this or that, i've never seen anyone recommend dixie gun works. their catalog has got to be one of the best reference books around. i have more fun reading it than most books i have.

now they are pretty heavy on frontstuffers{i kinda like them too} but they also have uberti replicas 73,76,92 etc pedersoli and meacham single shots and single action revolvers.the parts section is pretty large and diverse with parts for all the colt replicas as well as starrs, remingtons, smiths, coopers, sharps, and others.the rifle parts cover spencers, colt root, smith carbine, remington rolling block, stevens, whitney kennedy, marlin 39,winnie 66,73,76,86,92,94,95,04,and hotchkiss.

but that's not all there is old time clothing, camping gear, leather goods and a large library of books civil war through cowboy stuff to leather work and cooking.the best part of the thing is in the back where you find general info. there are conversion tables, chemicals, alloys, lead balls to the pound, bird shot sizes, black powder loading tables and velocity tables and a whole lot more. i have read most of this info in other places but not all gathered into one book.

i'm still reading my '08 copy haven't seen the '09 yet ...maybe i ought to call them up.
see i'm holding it up to the monitor?
well no dog in fight/horse in race but this thing ought to be right up you folks alley.

oh, i'm working on the picture thing maybe i'll be able to post some soon. the wife knows how to run photobucket mayhap i'll ask for help......naw i'll muddle thru.
careful what you wish for, you might just get it.

Sounds like some interesting stuff... thanks for the heads up. Welcome to the cyber fire, by the way. :)

The first Dixie catalog I had was a 1965 edition, it was much slimmer then.
I still find Dixie catalogs essential reading. 8)

Hey game keeper, are you considered an outcast by your neighbors. I was working in England in 96 and whenever I mentioned guns or hunting, I was accused of being a barbarian, to which my reply was "thank you very much" Just wondering if you get the same hassle.
