.405 JES
Anybody have the specifics on this cartridge?
Re: .405 JES
There's some info on it over at the Marlin Owners forum, but apparently they are having some technical difficulties at the moment. If I recall, it is a 444 Marlin necked down and propells a 300 gr. 411" bullet around 2000 fps. Hopefully they will get the Marlin forum up and running soon.

TedH,
Thanks, sounds good though.

Re: .405 JES
Sound like another .416 Barnes wannabe. Why not neck the .45-70 down to .405, or better yet, get a .40-82 WCF and be done with it.

Re: .405 JES
I think the appeal ( For me ) is price, the man will do it to an existing Marlin 336.
Re: .405 JES
The folks who make the "405 JES" have been asked a couple times for drawings of their cartridge on the marlinowners forum . And to date they have failed to provide them . True they say it's a 444 trimmed a bit and necked down , but it would still be nice to see a scale drawing of the cartridge before one decided on whether or not to have one built .

Re: .405 JES
doesn't seem like it's worth the trouble. the .444 marlin already does that, maybe a little bit more?
