Winchester 1886 sling

Giving some thought to using a sling on my Winchester. Just want to freeup my hands. Last deer season it was a pain to drag my deer and carry the gun together. Thought I would see what other have tried.

I re-stocked mine and put a factory set in. Screw in the butt and front like Sixgun's.

I zip tie my rifle inside the deer in a garbage bag on long drags.

Sixgun, that is close to what I had in mind. Tycer Good idea with the trash bags.

That's a good idea Tycer. I've never put my rifle in a deer but have lashed it on the outside of the deer on a long drag. Anymore though, at my age, I will not drag a deer more that 100 yards so I don't have to worry about it and I pick my shots carefully.

The fellow at Lever Gun Leather does make some nice products.

I have several of these slings and they are just excellent IMHO. Look apprpriate on a levergun too.

Cabelas carries these for $38.

Well, they are gonna ask--Last year after traveling 2000 miles by air and then another 200 by truck, upon setting up the tent and getting out my gear, I noticed I had no front sight. Darn thing wiggled out. I did make another one from a piece of plastic though---thats the reason Sixgun Jr. got the elk and not me ---------------------Yo Pappa

I thought for sure we were going to hear that you carved one from a tooth you pulled from a deer skull you found near camp and pinned it in place with a pin you forged in your campfire from a paperclip.

Sorry I have not been here much, but I have not been on any forums much. Been real busy with biz, hunting, shooting and Chores around the house. Hope it stays that way!
