Neat picture but it is for real or is it a studio photo. Everything looks brand spanking new. Even if it is a studio photo, it does give insight to the dress and weapons of the time. Thanks for posting it.

All the better. Any idea of the fellow's name and whether or not he was active as a scout at the time?
Re: OT-Neat old Photo
Very cool Rangerider. Can any of our Native American brethren fill us in on what tribe this man was from? Guess it's hard to tell when he is duded up in store bought clothes.
I know from my Grandfather's stories that Oklahoma was a wild place at the turn at the century...the Wild West would not die out there for many years to come.

Yep, Springfield .45-70 carbine and Colt SA. I wonder if the SA is martially marked? We'll never know, will we?

Apparently he was good with money. It would take some serious dough to outfit yourself like that.

Ft Sill and southern OK have had a few folks from the southern plains tribes around for a long time... I'd guess that man is Apache or Comanche. A few Arapahos are in the region too.
I think he is just out with his Sunday best for the picture. Lot's of average folks had at least one "good" set of duds for church or social wear. I see lots of local old photos here in OK and our subject looks dressed about the norm to me.

Great stuff. Looks real to me. I love this old heritage stuff.
WHERE DID THE WHITE MAN GO WRONG???
TOUGH TO ARGUE WITH THIS ONE.
Indian Chief 'Two Eagles' was asked by a white government official, 'You have observed the white man for 90 years. You've seen his wars and his technological advances. You've seen his progress, and the damage he's done.'
The Chief nodded in agreement.
The official continued, 'Considering all these events, in your opinion, where did the white man g o wrong?'
The Chief stared at the government official for over a minute and then calmly replied. 'When white man find land, Indians running it, no taxes, no debt, plenty buffalo, plenty beaver, clean water.
Women did all the work, Medicine man free. Indian man spend all day hunting and fishing; all night having sex.'
Then the chief leaned back and smiled. 'Only white man dumb enough to think he could improve system like that.
