When I started this thread the other day it was about trivia. Since then it has taken a life of it's own. I am going to stay with trivia in future posts.

Confederate private Henry Morgan Stanley, survived a bloody charge at Shiloh only to be taken prisoner. Later he joined the Union ranks and finished the war in yankee blue. What is he more famous for in his later years?
In 1864 the basic daily ration for a Union soldier was(in ounces), beef-20, flour-18,
dry beans-2.56, green coffee-1.6, sugar 2.4, salt .64, also pepper, vinegar, candles, soap, and yeast powder in smaller amounts.
At the battle of Fredricksburg in 1862, the line of Confederate trenches extended a distance of seven miles. The troop density in these defensive works was 11,000 per mile.
The total cost of the war for the South has been estimated at 4 billion dollars.
