I found a used one being traded in at my local gun emporium and couldn't get my wallet out fast enough. The rifle is mechanically brand new (not even broken in).The bluing is 100%.The plating is frosted on the trigger & loading gate,but rest of the plating is intact on the gun.The stock has scuffs and dings ,but heck I bought it as a shooter for $450 out the door!The barrel & tang engraving is filled.The action is 100% intact finished.The medallion is intact and mint.All screws un-buggered.I have a few questions.What year were they made?What is the plating used?What is the action metallurgy(is it scintered)?How much does it weigh?Sorry the camera is dead- no pictures.

I bought one of these for my youngest son (Cody) when he was about a year old. HIs isn't quite as nice as yours, as it has some scratches in the stock finish. It's a great shooter and I don't believe you could talk him out of it.

Bought new in 1968 - had to pay $90 then - the same day and same dealer who charged me $100 for this BL22 rimfire -
Being raised as never look a gift horse in the mouth - I didn't ask - but always suspected he made the profit he wanted on the 20" and that customer didn't want the 26" barreled one (they came in pairs with consecutive serial numbers).

My younger brother got one for his 12th birthday july 4 1968. Took it to the blackwater falls area in wv 1974, killed his first deer, cleaned it put it away has'nt been fired since. Could'nt get from him for anything.
Well the rifle cleaned up really nice.Only slight frosting on the loading gate and no green on the patchs from the bore during cleanup! I was in the right place at the right time.The Gunshop owner had not booked the rifle yet when I laid my hands on her(late trade from the day before).The rifle just felt right in my hands.

At one time the so call commerative rifles didn't sell all that well and when they were slow going out the door they were often discounted. I bought a nib Canadian for $10 LESS than a standard M94 in 1976 or so. The problem with the Commeratives is that they were shiney on the outside and used the cheap parts from the post 64, stamped lifters ect. If you got a good one you were in luck but a lot of them had feeding problems from the box. I still have my Canadian but it is now a 38-55.

the one I picked up is the 20" SRC.Any idea of weight?
