30A Shorty conversion

Take a filthy, abused Glenfield 30A. Spend a couple of days cleaning, stripping, and cutting, then refinishing wood and metal, and you have a 30A Shorty. This was a fun conversion. The result has a 18.75" barrel, a 3-round mag (4, I think, once I shorten the spring just a hair more), carries and shoots beautifully.

I wish I had a decent camera, and that I'd been able to get some decent "before" pictures. The thing really looked like a total loss, had been neglected for years and looked like it had possibly received smoke damage in a house fire. I took it back by the local pawnshop where I got it and the owner offerred me twice what I'd paid for it but, as you say, it's a keeper.
