Was a balmy 39 degrees this morning so I grabbed a couple rifles and headed off to the range.
I'd gotten some 303 surplus from "Levers" i the classifieds and wanted to try out the
South African ammo and compare it to some of the other stuff I have
Center target was the SA ammo. Five shots into 3" at 50 yds. Rear sight set at 300 yds was
right on at 50. I'm sure it will do better than that. Too much caffene this morning.
174 Gr FMJ over cordite powder.

Left target was late 60s vintage Greek 174 Gr. Bullets and a fine ball powder and a boxer primer.
Have always had good luck with this ammunition. Dirty but non-corrosive.
First group was right at 2". Second three shot group was just over an inch. Still had the rear sight
set to 300 yds and rested the black circle right on top of the front sight.
Far right target was my old Marlin 336 RC/ 30-30. I really like shooting this old rifle.
Load was a cast 170 gr LFPGC bullet over 23 Grains of IMR-4198.
After the first two shots I rembered I had to remove the sight elevator
to get the sight low enough for 50 yds. Last four shots were at 2 1/4"
I know she'll do better than that. Was getting impatient and rushing my shots.
That and the rear sight sucks. Still looking for a vintage peep but I think I'm
going to order the Williams and antique it.
Had the place to myself this morning!

Some spots the snow was up to my knees. We almost broke a record for Jan. snowfall this year.

Another old Lithgow ( 1917). Love those things.

Now I have to get to work and finish the project I started last week.
Gotta keep the Boss Lady happy
