marlin finish
I am putting the forend of my 1894 cowboy on a slimming wheel. but, does onyone know the best finish to put on it to, at least as close as possible, match the stock.
Re: marlin finish
I've used Birchwood-Casey Tru-Oil and had pretty good luck with it. You can get pretty much any surface finish you want with it using different grades of steel wool.

Re: marlin finish
If it's one of the new Cowboys the best finish to match is a spray on poly. I don't believe they even stain them anymore, but you'll be able to tell once you've sanded it down and compared the color of the raw forearm to the buttstock.
