You guys have more snow than us Don. We got 5" the other day and have had 60mph wind on top of it. I can't even use the bobsled, and the team is tired of the wagon (me too, it beats your knees up). Cows look good, when do you start calving?
Jb, thanks.
Nath nope no coyote today, did see some bobcat track at the tank tho.
Mescalero, that's a well worn 73 F 250, just keep balin wiring it back together and keep on truckin
Wes we had an even 12 inches from this last deal, first good snow of the winter. Yesterday we had some breeze come up and smear and settle it a little, but it's warm enough today its really settling in, seems to be some pretty good moisture in it.
Nath that's a mini 14 ranch rifle. Tasco 3x9. Have one of those clamp on lights for it that make it good for night fightin coyotes during calving. Some of these real cowboys think their shortstroked 73's are fast, they ain't seen nuttin yet.
M71Ak, I might remember to take the camera along again one of these days.
OK, I will also take one guess. She is half Australian. About 9 to 10 years old. Well, that is two. Also, it has been awhile for me, but I do not like the new bailing wire.
It was a lawenforcement trade in, I picked up on one of the auction sites. It has a fast twist barrel so it shoots the 60ish grain stuff pretty nice, as long as the barrel doesn't get hot. It has turned in minute of coyote to 250 with the 64 gr blackhills stuff, as well as minute of skunk at 175.
Well Don...your cows are black, mine are red, I have more snow and a better dog ( Border Collie) but we both drive Fords and pick up our baler twine. Tie ?
Behind every sucessful rancher is a wife with a job in town.
Kell nope rounds.
I feel bad for you guys and all the snow and cold you've had. This is the first real snowfall we've had this winter, and we needed it badly , the pastures were starting to blow. Not long before Mom passed away I was mentioning something about maybe getting a bunch of ol ewes to run with the cows to see if they'ld take out some of the rabbit brush that's starting to invade the country side. Her reply was "humph! I can't get flowers to grow on your dads grave now cuz of all them darned ol black cows, and him a spinnin around . If you started running sheep he'ld liked as not come and give us both what for"
I still have a few herefords hanging about. Like Carol and I keep telling ourselves it was herefords what raised us, so we have to show some respect.

Gotta agree on the dog, though mine has the smooth coat, which works better, here in Kansas. FYI, for dealing with that darn twine, I started using a splitting axe for cutting and removing that stuff. I keep the axe way sharpedr than necessary, then wrap the twine around the handle and pull on it to get the twine out. Works pretty good.

That's from Baxter Black. I liked his "Ag survival test". 'Specially the one about "Your readily available funds are in:" A., b., or c.. Oneof the three was "A copenhagen lid on the dresser".

Someone has to provide the insurance! On my place it's the other way around, she takes care of the horses and I earn the cash money! We keep talkin' about tradin', but the books'd be in a mess inside the month!

No I ain't ready, but let's do it anyway!
OT: Any of you guys know anyone looking for a hand feedin' cows this winter? (No square bales; I'm still recovering from back surgery) I've been doing ranch work, riding colts, and shoeing horses since I was a little kid. I won't mind shoeing my own mounts, but anything over that'll cost ya.

What problem? With my back? Yeah, still a little stiff, not up to doing a whole lot of walking yet, but I can still ride a horse, tractor, or pickup.

Well right now I'm having to feed a bit extra so I slog that mile thru the snow twice a day. I'll bring them to the house in about a week , so we can all get settled in a start to thinking about calving. That'll help with time and gas.
