OT-The ice fishing thread

Post by Jason_W »

I know a few of you are fellow northerners and a few are ice fishermen. How's your season going this year? Mine started off a bit slow, but I did catch my first ever lake trout on saturday. Just a baby by laker standards (19.5") but it made some good smoked fillets. I got him on a live sucker on the bottom in only 3 feet of water.

I'm taking my dad pike fishing tomorrow.

Charlie Shultz, creator of Peanuts, drew a single panel back in the 1950s called "IT'S ONLY A GAME" dealing with all sports. One of his best showed a couple of golfers pulling their carts between piles of snow and looking at a couple of ice fishermen and asked: "Can you imagine fishing in weather like this?"

Now, shooting in weather like that is clearly more sensible -
