You just about have to wonder if he was killed. That canopy was about half over his truck so unless he scooted in time....

Re: OT Watch them trailers!
That canopy must've been rather poorly constructed for a soft aluminum trailer to have caused that much destruction. Years ago, I had one close encounter of the worst kind happen to employees under my charge. In one instance, a line truck driver took it upon himself to go through a donut shop driver through and failed to look up. Needless to say, he contacted the overhead canopy, but failed to knock it down. Luckily, for him, the beam stopped his forward movement, but not without serious damage to the structure. Of course, since I was the foreman of the crew, the "accident" was charged to me. The company paid the cost of repairs, but the mark remained on my record. The fact that the driver did what he did withoput my knoiwledge had no bearing on the issue. On another occasion, a mechanic had raised the boom on a big International 10 wheeler line truck so that he could tilt the cab and replace the fuel filter. Well, he didn't lower the boom to the cradle and the driver didn't either. Luckily, I was driving down the hwy in the opposite direction and saw the vehicle passing me. There was an overpass about a mile ahead, so I jumped on the radio and said, "Hey, Andy, shouldn't you lower your boom?" No response, just a huge cloud of smoke as he crammed the brakes, WHEW! Certain danger averted. I can laugh about it now, but my heart nearly stopped when I saw him cruising down the hwy at 45MPH with 3 other crew members riding with him. To err is human, but some things are certainly within our control to prevent.

I was referring to the original post. Looks like the cab was pretty well flattened.Old Ironsights wrote:Naaah. The Lowboy was ripped right off the tractor. The driver was fine.TedH wrote:That driver was lucky if he got out of that with his life.
