No, my BIL was thinking of doing a trip this summer. I understand it can be VERY dangerous this time of year with flash foods.

Yeah the flash floods can be an issue. But desert flowers after a rain are a gift from God.
You couldnt get me out there in the summer way to hot and I like the desert

Yeah, I been through there. It got interesting. My buddy and I went through there about 35 years ago. There was a old man ahead of us with what was probley his grandkids. He got a flat and was blocking the narrow road or trail. He couldnt get the lug nuts off. They were like frozen on. My buddy and I both about broke a gut changing his tire.
I dont know if they were ever found but a family of german tourists may still be missing. I think they found their rental car but not them. That was quite a few years ago. I will have to ask a close friend, he used to work at furnace creek.

WATER!!!!!! Carry a lot of water and drink a lot of water while there if you're going to Death Valley. Although with newer cars/trucks a breakdown is unlikely, should you have one you may be stuck there for a long time. Sometimes, you can sit on the side of the road and not have a car come along for hours -- maybe even a whole day or longer. Stick to the more common tourist routes. Don't go exploring the out of the way roads unless you're prepared.

It may not be fun BUT there are a few people who have gone missing and have never been found after they have told members of their party that they were just going to go for short walk or drive.Griff wrote:WHAT???? Having done several TDYs to the NTC, I can aver that I am not a Death Valley kind of person
