Any changes in Marlins since Remington took over?

There has been a lot of talk about the NEF Handi Rifles since they were taken over by Remington. Has anyone noticed any differences in the Marlins since the take over.

Some of us have noticed some shallow rifling (Ballard) on some new Model 1894's, but they seem to shoot alright. I don't know if that is a Remington induced thing or just a normal change - or maybe something we missed before. I call my new .44 mag a Remlin. Mine did come w/o the Bullseye, but otherwise the fit/finish etc. is still as they were before Remington Acquisition (BRA).

I bought an 1894c (.357) last year shortly before the take over was announced, and I just got a new 1894 in 44 mag. The fit and finish on the 44 seems to be slightly better. It has much better wood on it. Both have the bullseye. The rifling on either example does not appear to be much deeper than the old micro-groove barrels. The biggest change I've noticed is that the serial number on the 357 is on the upper tang and the serial number on the 44 is on the lower left side of the receiver. I haven't shot the 44 enough to comment on it but I'm very pleased with the 357.

I have heard that Remington decided to eliminate the Marlin bullseye as a cost-cutting measure, but reversed the decision when it was protested by Marlin employees and customers.

I hear there's a possibility they'll be setting up a new line to make them on new equipment.

They have posted, on their web site, that if it's over 50 years old or not in production that they will not service it. They also will no longer pay for shipping, on new rifles under warranty.
