Florida Levergunners

Post by SFRanger7GP »

I don't post too much on here. Until recently I stayed out of country working most of the time and I normally learn more by just reading. A strange turn of events landed me in a new and totally different career that required moving from Texas and relocating in Coral Springs, FL. (I don't think strange events really, more like answered prayers on the new job.)

I have been looking for a range in the area but all I have found are indoor ranges and one outdoor public range that is always packed with people with black rifles and the inability to properly handle firearms. Nothing against black rifles, but the people I am seeing around here could be poster children for the gun control crowd as to why "assault rifles" should be banned. Not the best environment to enjoy shooting lever guns, SAA's or BPCRs.

Any suggestions out there?

Well your too far south! :D 200 miles or so
We have a few members between Sanford
and Daytona Beach Florida...Duff-L-Bagg, Rimfire McNutjob,
Crawdaddyjim, and me...Rihmfire...
You just missed a small get together here in Daytona....
dr walker drove over from the tampa area....

The best range down there is Markham Park in
Sunrise Florida....which is near the Sawgrass Mills Mall
I have never shot at the range.....the only reason I know
about it......is our office designed a large portion of the mall...
and we went there to check it out.....but that was years ago....

anyway...
I hope we can get together someday and sling some lead down range..
Let me know how the range is.....I wonder if its still there...
LETS GO SHOOT'N BOYS

Thanks. I'll definitely go check it out. 200 mile wouldn't be too far to drive to enjoy a good shoot and good company. This forum seems to be a good place to find good company. I downloaded a list of all the Florida ranges so I'll start checking them out this New Year. I drove almost an hour to the private range I was a member of outside of San Antonio. It was well worth it. I'll be looking for a private range to join within 1-2 hours.

There are some ranges on the state's Wildlife Management Areas. The one on the Webb WMA might be close enough for you. Markham Park is a decent range - sometimes real busy. There is another one just outside Miami on the Tamiami Trail, but I can not remember what it is called. That may be the one you have already found. Welcome to Florida.

The only one I kow about is the Delray Shooting Center which is right off of I-95. You can see it from the interstate. It's an indoor range that rents machine guns. I took Jr. there a few years back while we had some vacation time.
