OT-Two questions on Rugers

Post by Otto »

1. I was reading on another forum, and the subject was bringing back the old Vaquero. One poster's comment seemed to imply that the Blackhawk had either been dropped, or redesigned with the New Vaquero. He did not appear to be talking about Old Model versus New Model.

2. My truck partner just inherited an old Vaquero sheriff's model, but she doesn't like the short barrel. Where can she have the barrel replaced, will that significantly reduce the value, and can the original barrel be reinstalled later? In other words, does it simply unscrew or is there damage done in the removal process?

"...all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed." Declaration of Independence

The barrels are replaceable but unless it has sentimental value, sell it, and get a longer barreled version of your choice. You'll be money well ahead. Sheriff's models sell very well, sometimes bringing more than new price. The sheriff models were all limited production.
"People who object to weapons aren't abolishing violence, they're begging for rule by brute force, when the biggest, strongest animals among men were always automatically 'right.' Guns ended that, and social democracy is a hollow farce without an armed populace to make it work."

1. I never heard that. The New Vaquero, as apposed to the Vaquero, was a change but I believe the BH stayed the same.

2. Yep, sell it and get what she wants. Faster, cheaper and easier.
