Browning BLR in 7mm-08 - anyone?

Post by Triggernosis »

Does anyone here shoot a Browning BLR in 7mm-08? If you do, please share your experiences.

There was a thread on this but it might have been on the old forum.

Great combo for all around light medium work. I have a bolt in a 20 in barrel and it is a great rifle. 380 is the powder for all weights in mine. Approximately 1000 rds through in likely more than 50 loads.

Make that 78 loads +/-, 120 gr to 160, all kinds of jacketed bullets, and Barnes. I used 19 different powders.

I don't think it would be far different from my Lightning BLR in .308, purchased new in 1997, but I don't have any hunt reports or other adventures to write about. My life has been quite unexciting the past ten or eleven years. I will say that I LOVE the way it fits and handles for me, and is a pleasure to carry in the woods.

I've always wanted a 7mm08 in a Rem. model 7. Never thought about one in a BLR, till now. 8) That would a dandy combination.

Great rifle - purchased mine used with pistol grip. The barrel will heat up in a bench shooting situation unless you take time between shots. It took a little bench time for me to get it to the point where it is sub moa. I have shot less than 3/4 inch groups many times. Am shooting federal fusions in it and they work well. I will start reloading in for grins in 09. The P.O. shot alot of different species in Mt. with the rifle. Recoil is very light and a fun gun to shoot. Go for it - I do not see people having trouble selling this model and caliber.

Ted - this one is accurate and as handy as most levers - scope is a 1.5-5x Leupold - perfect for it. Did have to bed the tand and under the recoil lug and chamber.

I don't have one in 7mm-08 either. But, I do have a pistol grip version in 358 Win. and like it very much. I think one in 7mm-08 would be really handy and would make a great deer rifle. Dang it, now you got me thinking.... and that's a dangerous thing.

I have one in that caliber and love everything about it except the trigger.

From what I've heard, Neil Jones (http://www.neiljones.com/) can fix the trigger.

Sounds expensive. Too bad Browning didn't get that trigger right in the first place.

You can drop the triggerpull weight by 2 lbs for 50 cents. The cost of a sear spring.

Ah! Now we're getting somewhere! Where do I find this spring, and are there any detailed instructions available on installing it?

Looks like a Remington to me. I could be wrong. Lord knows it wouldn't be my first time, nor my last.
