OT: Trail camera results...

Post by bigbore442001 »

Dad and I went to the trail camera to see what it recorded. Basically, I discovered that my archery stand in Connecticut is pretty much useless right now. The deer are traveling through the area between 5:00 AM and 6:30 AM. It was really neat to see their faces . Also, something was recorded at 6:21 PM the next day. I am not sure since Mary's monitor is ready for the happy hunting ground. I will have to download the images to my work computer to get a clear picture.

We took it down and set it up at one of my other stands in Massachusetts. It will be interesting to see what the results are. I know that there are only three days of hunting for deer left but I want to see what has been going on.

I do have another idea. After the 1st of the year I want to do some coyote hunting over bait. I know of a dairy farm that I may be able to get a dead calf and hang it up in a tree or something like it. I want to set the camera up to see what comes to the bait.

I wished I had this before Christmas. :-) Next year should be very different.

Cameras here in Arizona have recorded Jaguars, migrating up from Mexico.
If that keeps up, stockmen here in the southwest are going to be in a tizzy!

According to some, Jaguars have been there for quite some time.

Darn those illegal immigrant jaguars! Or are they "undocumented worker" jaguars?

I think they are undocumented predator jaguars, about to have a lot of fun in the land of plenty.

I'd really hate to come around a corner and have a jaguar staring me in the face. That's a pretty big cat with some high end weaponry. They're BIG and super quick.

Is a jaguar any bigger, faster or more aggressive than a cougar? And please control yourselves on the sports car remarks. :D

As I have ( to no avail ) been advising aquaintences to carry a pistol when out and about.
Wait till one gets injured, then listen to the clamor for the authorities to do something.
My argument that we are in thier world has no impact.
People today feel that they may go about thier buisiness with impunity, and how dare some creature impeed thier progress.

I copied this from the wiki article.

The jaguar is a near threatened species and its numbers are declining. Threats include habitat loss and fragmentation. While international trade in jaguars or their parts is prohibited, the cat is still regularly killed by humans, particularly in conflicts with ranchers and farmers in South America.

If the tree hugging liberals read this they will insist that the DNR re-introduce the Jaguars to the US and put them on a protected species list.
