HELP !! Rossi Model 92 Not Feeding

Post by shoreimage »

New to the forum.
I have a Rossi Model 92 .357 and after disassemble the carrier does not move.
I installed the carrier with it in the detent but after it moves down it never returns.
Will not feed, nothing.
Resembled about 25 times looks like lever does not contact the carrier but again I dont know if it should.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
THANKS

No I did not.
I have it working somewhat now but very stiff.
I cleaned and lubed the spring loaded pin on the carrier and now it does lift.
Very stiff though.
I gotten pretty good at taken this thing apart.
Thanks for any advice.

If you don't brake it you can't learn to fix it.

Cant help with your problem, but can recomend a book which may help you, its By David R.Chicoine named Antique firearms assembly/dissaembly It will put you fully in the picture. It is one of my gun bibles. It will show you the complete takedown and reassembly of the firearm you are having a problem with. It dont take too much to screw-up if you dont have the correct info.

Just how far did you strip it down and why may give me a clue to the fix. Locking bolts correctly reassembled etc. You tell me. Main spring what did you do, did you pin it before removal then forget to take pin out after assembly, dunno just thinking out loud . Big question what did you do and how far did you go and what reference material did you use. Did you remove the cartridge guides left and right, you need to take note of the left guide spring. You have definately done something wrong and its usually something simple. Give me more info.

I disagree. I STRONGLY support that old saw, i.e. "If it ain't broke don't fix it." I cringe every time I see a post here where the fella starts off with "I'm a newbie to guns but,..." and moves to "...so I took it apart to clean it..." and ends with, "... can anyone help me get it back together?" There's a reason most guns aren't sold as parts kits and/or guns in pieces bring lower prices than those that are properly assembled. For me, every second a gun doesn't work is another second when a gun isn't a gun but just a darn expensive paperweight.

Then again, you jumped so hard for so little reason... Let it go...
Sincerely,

Hobie

I thought it was kind of funny, but then again I was great at taking things apart as a kid until my Dad made me start putting them back together. Telegraphist, your info seemed helpful. Maybe you just don't understand the American sense of humor. If you ever get to the Dallas, Texas area let me know and I'll take you out for a meal and a drink.
Anyway, this is just another reminder that I need to order Steve's DVD, and soon. Before I start trying to figure out how to make my Rossi Puma work better.

Gday Terry
Maybe as one guy wrote I missunderstood the American humour, did jump hard as Hobie said, but do have a sense of humour all be it different to USA humour. Things are a little clearer in that regard. I do know that the muzzle and the rear locking bolt are not interchangeable!! No hard feelings and apologies for any offence, none intended. Never was much of a one for circuses though. Good shooting and all the best for 2009

No worries Hobie. Perhaps I have not been around this forum long enough yet to pick up all the subtelties. Have a great 2009 and look forward to helping queries in the forum if I can.
