Re: The recent spate of spammers

Hey guys, recently we've had an influx of spammers. A couple of you have flagged the posts which makes it easier for us to see them and delete them. If you're not sure HOW to flag a post - at the bottom of each post there's a red exclamation mark you can click. This puts up a flag for the moderators that allows us to spot inappropriate behavior and take the right steps. I'm not sure how they are making it through the system but at least we're shutting them down ASAP. So thanks for your help in keeping this a pleasant place to hangout.

I've PM'd Hobie a couple times about them. Never noticed the red exclamation point before. Thanks Paul.

If one of the posts makes no sense but seems to talk about watches, porn, dating, the size of certain organs (like your liver or maybe not), money from outside the US, or some other thing we don't normally talk about posted by somebody with a handle that doesn't make sense. On the other hand I can see how you might not notice....

Yeah, what Hobie said. :D

There's not been that many, but the ones that have showed up have been fairly prolific - six or eight threads spammed before we could kill 'em. Now I've figured out how to do it faster. :) But we still need a heads up so we can get 'em ASAP.

The ones I've seen (so far) have been game adds for computer games or something like that.

Paul -

Thanks for letting us know. I saw one of these in a recent post - some guy selling something non-firearms related in the middle of a political post. The poster only had 3 posts. Definitely a spammer...

Advertising on-line games, wedding dresses, and jewelry? I've seen 'em and will hit the exclamation point from now on.

Actually, that was my thoughts too. Here I go and just get them about perfect in the comfort department, and my wife figures I need a new pair. If I don't wear the new pair, she keeps asking what is wrong with them, and thinks I don't appreciate her gift. No way to win that one boys...

Talk about thread drift... from spammers to slippers...

Anyway, another observation - spammers using the signature line for spam. Just tossed one out, the post was something inane like "thx bump" and the signature line was pure "come buy our stupid video game" or some such. Have I mentioned how much I detest spammers? Anyway, thanks for the help, guys. And for the humor and slipper pics, etc. I'll have to post a pick of mine one of these days...
