O.T. Ysabel Kid Member Emeritus?

Post by 1886 »

When is Y.K. going to become one of those fancy pants, toney, Member Emeritus fellas? He only has 6200+ posts. The boy must never leave the key board. Curious, 1886.

I was wondering that too. Since post count isn't a qualification for this title, what is?

I also vote YK a promotion to become one of those fancy pants, toney, Member Emeritus fellas>

YK gets my vote also.

When I first joined this forum I posted a remark that I liked the "Barney the Dinosaur" targets that he had shown in a post. He sent me a PM and I asked if he could email me the .pdf or .jpg file of the target so that I could print some. He said he didn't have them on his computer, but volunteered to send me several in the mail, all on his dime and time. YK goes the extra mile. He is Emeritus in my book.

Post count or longevity on the OLD board is the qualifier. YK, for all his posting here, wasn't that big on the old board. If somebody feels they or somebody else qualifies they can PM me with who and why. It is purely subjective and contributions to the retirement fund might be necessary... NAH, JUST KIDDING!

I know we are having some fun with this topic, and I for one, am enjoying this but seriously, Y.K. is a genuinely nice guy, never a smart a--, always eager to help, usually the first to welcome someone new, knowledgeable, super father/husband. A true leverguns Ambassador Emeritus. Surely, he qualifies. I have to go now, I am getting misty. 1886.

Emeritus - (Random House College Dictionary) - 1. retired or honorably discharged from active duty due to age, infirmity or long service but retained on the rolls. :?:

Sometimes words sound one way but mean something else. Penultimate for instance is often used as "the best" but means - next to last.

But here, I suppose, words can have an insider meaning.

1886, I stand by your assertions also - sometimes intent and accuracy can't both be served. My wordsmith wife has been searching alternates for the intent and I don't believe one actually exists to convey the intened meaning in the intended way and YK certainly is a fine guy all around and is the prime new board "emeritus". :)

It looks like I missed something really important here . . . Barney targets . . . where do I sign up...?

One of the funniest Halloween haunted house things I ever heard of was nearby in town where some crusty old geezers had to set up a haunted house for some charity, and the wives told them not to make it 'too scary' because it was to cater to young kids. In one of the rooms, Barney was hanging limp from a noose. . . my eyes still tear up laughing when I think of the old dudes probably setting that one up half unaware of the 'trauma' it would cause the little kiddies. Probably sipping down beers in the kitchen the whole time, too.

Well, thank you fellas!

Hobie's right though - I am still a relative newcomer to these parts compared to many, many others, who have contributed for years. Besides, I learned that my knowledge of firearms and leverguns specifically was nothing compared to many of you. I'm just a piker who apparently doesn't require much sleep, can type pretty fast with two fingers (the ol' "hunt and peck" method), will post on just about anything (thus the count; still can't believe you guys tolerate it!), and can take a mean picture of my slippers!

In the old forum I was an old timer and always in to top 5 as far as post count but ever since events over the past 2 years including moving away from rural Maui and my hunting grounds I have lost the fire I once had for shooting. I haven't even advanced to a "Senor" Levergunner, and I know I'll never be a ""Member Emeritus but maybe if I ask Hobie real nice he'll make me "Glutius Maximus" as my wife as acused me of being on several occasions, or maybe "Member Illegitimus".

Good grief!!! Here's a thread seeking "Member Emeritus" status for "Ysable Kid" and he can't even keep his yap shut -- errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, fingers still while everyone hashes it over without butting in and tooting his own horn. I just knew he couldn't keep from commenting in a thread even if it was honoring him for being such a prolific posted and "all around good guy". Hell, with that kind of gall, "Ysable Kid" definitely deserves "Member Emeritus" status.

Congrats in advance "Ysable Kid". OK by me.

Seriously though guys, I appreciate this very much, but compared to folks like Hobie (over 12,000 posts, IIRC, on the "old forum"), Old Savage (over 7K posts), Joe Miller, Old Ironsights, Ji and others, I'm still a newbie. I just appreciate being part of this extended family, and have learned a lot from you all. "Posticus Obsessivous", "Blabbermouthicus Maximus" or "Slipper Photocus" are all more accurate!

isn't "Emeritus" really just a nice way of saying someone is a has-been? Like an old college professor who still has an office but no classes and no duties. They can't call him Professor so they call him a Professor Emeritus.

YK needs his own category, like "Rainmaker" or "Iron Man" for his post count.

Does YK have lots of grey in his beard?

He might not appreciate nomination to the "Windy Old fanny burp" category if he's a younger fellow.

I couldn't object since I'm not only a "Windy Old fanny burp" but a charter member of IOFA (Intolerant Old fanny burbs of American) and OOF ( Opinionated Old fanny burbs).

If I grow it, I do. What's left on my head is pretty gray as well - but the key is "what's left"!

Still, I'm only 44. My wife said I was born old, and she knows I'm looking forward to being a nasty old coger, instead of a nasty young one. People don't cut you as much slack for the latter as the former! I hope to live long enough to make it to the WOF, IOFA, and OOF clubs!!! :D

Hobie - I think you had 12K post when I joined. 19K+... wow! As I said, I'm just a piker compared to you all. I think I joined the old forum in the last year+ it was around. Have 3855 posts before it went kaput.

All, again, thank you for your kind words - and spot-on ribbing! I'm just darn proud to be an "Advanced Levergunner" on the finest forum on the web!

Heck Kid, if you are 44, you qualify for membership in the IOFA and OOF.

The under-40 crowd have to be satisfied with Junior Memberships. :D

YK - at times I have thought that both you and Hobie aren't single individuals but committees who take turns at the helm. The names Ysabel and Hobie are both acronyms. Then I noticed that when you came Hobie let up on his post rate. Likely, you are a subcommitttee of the HOBIE group. Say, what are you two up to anyway. :?: :?: :?:

I'd be honored to be a subcommitte of the HOBIE group. Maybe the assistant to the assistant, or something like that!
