Just a year ago, many of us here were active on "Project Sword", which was a very rewarding seasonal story of our own.
So this year, I was looking for something uplifting about our vets to share, when a fellow member from the local Rifle Club sent me this info. I checked it out on Snopes, and it is indeed a true story -- super! -- just what I was looking for!
So here we are...
Wishing a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all our vets ~ past, present and future!
Christmas Wreathsat Arlington National Cemetary
"Rest easy, sleep well my brothers.
Know the line has held, your job is done.
Rest easy, sleep well.
Others have taken up where you fell, the line has held.
Peace, peace, and farewell..."
"Readers may be interested to know that these wreaths -- some 5,000 annually -- are donated by the Worcester Wreath Co. of Harrington, Maine. The owner, Merrill Worcester, not only provides the wreaths, but covers the trucking expense as well. He's done this since 1992. What a wonderful guy. Also, most years, groups of Maine school kids combine an educational trip to DC with this event to help out. Making this even more remarkable is the fact that Harrington is in one the poorest parts of the state."
Per "the rest of the story" on Snopes, the annual supply of donated wreaths isn't enough to cover every stone there (sad to say...), so the administration rotates the wreaths from section to section of the cemetary with the end goal being that every solemn grave will eventually benefit from Mr. Worcester's generosity.
What a neat story. May God Bless Mr. Worcester and all our vets ~ not only at this time of year ~ but every second of every day!

Thanks, Old No7, my granddaughter age 15 visited DC with her class last spring and went to Arlington, came back much impressed, so I sent her your clip.
Whenever I visit the swamp my first stop is always Arlington, and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. I don't think I've ever left Arlington with a dry eye...
