Browning 1886 dovetails

Anyone know if the rear dovetail on the Browning 1886 rifle is 3/8in or a metric size? I am about to d&t mine for a Marbles tang sight and would like to fit a Marbles #95 folding rear sight as well.

I used standard fillers in my dovetails when I installed receiver sights.

I have been able to use Marbles replacements without issue on several B-86s and one B-92. 1886.

Thanks guys. I was just concerned because Japanese industry uses the metric system.

not on the dovetails,, they are 3/8" but screws and other stuff are metric.

don't have a Miroku Browning but did have a Miroku Winchester '86 and a 3/8" dovetail sight would slide right thru the cut, had to shim....that was using a Smith enterprise ladder sight.

A marble's rear buckhorn (3/8) slid right thru my Browning SRC. I havn't tried any slot blanks.

dang, my brownings which have 3/8" are from the 80's production so now they must have changed it! why on earth would they do that, makes for a real pain!

Yup, the Brownings (86 and 71) are more compatable with standard 3/8 equipment. The later ones (USRAC) are less so. What fits in my Browning slips right through my 86EL. Annoying, ain't it?
