I'm sorry - I didn't mean to offend you.
Savage 99's have been made with case-hardened levers for over 100 years - AFAIK, at least 80 longer than faux case coloring has been in general use, since it's a relatively new, inexpensive replacement for the real thing.
I refer to the faux CC as eyewash, so I guess my prejudice was showing.
