sightless marlin 1894P - need suggestions
i have an 1894P that i installed an XS scout rail on and i removed the factory front/rear sight assemblies and sold them off. now i am looking to put something back on. ive seen the XS peep sight setup and was wondering if its a straight drop in on the factory tapped holes? any other reccomendations, ive seen another rear peep sight from some machinist selling them but he offers no front sight provisions.

There are several front ramp/sight combinations available but there was a change in hole spacings and I dont know the S.N. when this happened. You can also order a factory ramp/sight& screws from Marlin or Brownells. I would check there first.

That would probably be Skinner sights: http://www.skinnersights.com/index.html97guns wrote: ive seen another rear peep sight from some machinist selling them but he offers no front sight provisions.
Tim has very nice post type front sights but they are made to fit your stock sight base or barrel dove tail. I think you could readily get a front sight ramp from Marlin for very reasonable price.
Oh and welcome to the fire.

Yes. Just give them your front ramp hole spacing when you order.
The "machinist's" sight is the Skinner, as posted above, available in blued steel or brass.
Skinner also makes the appropriate higher ( needed ) front sight blades, and Numrich Arms has OEM ramps & screws.

One more option is the Brockman sight for the 336. I had to have one hole d&T'd for the front sight on my 94P.
I really like these sights. Well made and solid. Kinda like shooting my M14.

I just purchased the skinner sight for my Pre safety 1894 Marlin in 44 mag. I have to tell you that sight is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I have the XS sights on a stainess 1895 guide gun and on a 1895 PG SS Marlin. The skinner sight is the way to go. It was under $50 shipped and you can retain the front sight. It is of better design than the XS in my opinion.
FYI if you are needing a new replacement front sight, check Brownells. I just replaced all the screws on my 1894 along with the front sight ramp, screws, ramp and insert. Total was under $14 buck

My 1894P has factory drilled and tapped holes on the side of the receiver for sights. I installed a Williams firesight sight set on mine.

how do i know if i have the new or old style sights? i looked at the originals from brownells but they only specify old and new style, no measurements to go by.
