date of manufacture model 94 30 wcf

Post by iceman »

I was cleaning off my old mod 94 today and remembered reading here that the date of the barrel manufacture was stamped on the bottom. I removed the forearm and found a date of 1940. The serial # 1267xxx falls in the 43 to 47 time frame of no records according to the little info I have. With a total of 78,866 made from 1940 to 1942 this seems odd that a barrel would be around that long. Any reference to better nail down DOM would be appreciated. There are also eyes for a sling on this rifle, one in the stock and one on the forearm band. I also have the hook like swivels that are used to attach the sling to the rifle. Were these factory original or an after market? Thanks in advance.

The polishing room records seem to be the most accurate source for your 94
"1,343,183 listed as the last Model 94 serial number recorded in 1942"

Looks like you have one from around 1940-41! I discovered my 43-47 carbine was a 1942 and that a 1954 was actually a 53.
Hope you find the Link interesting.

Thanks for the info. I guess I did ok when I bought it in 1975 for $75.00. Anybody have info on the sling mounting system. I have never seen a forearm band with this little stud. I tried to install an Uncle Mikes on my bb94 and now need a new band.
